On the methodology of fingerprint template protection schemes conception : meditations on the reliability

Abstract Among the most major potential attacks against fingerprint authentication systems are those that target stored reference templates. These threats extremely damaging as they can lead to invasion of user privacy. The countermeasures secure templates therefore an indisputable necessity. In literature, although there so many approaches address this kind vulnerability, it turns out be very difficult generalize their uses. Given each system has its own particularities, going from trait acquisition matching process, majority protection schemes, proposed generic solutions, not sufficiently mature for large-scale deployment. Consequently, we believe methodology template schemes conception should oriented build specific every unprotected system, which will provide best compromise between performance and security compared any solution. By adopting methodology, propose in paper a new scheme is well adapted well-known existing minutia system. Our experimental results, obtained using standard benchmarks such FVC 2002 DB1 DB2, have proven technique meets requirements revocability, unlinkability, non-invertibility, high recognition accuracy.
